Flybe announces 2019 summer schedule from Norwich Airport

Flybe, the UK-based European regional airline, has announced that it will continue its two sun routes to Alicante and Malaga for 2019 summer, together with four fights a week to Exeter.

The new services will be available for booking from Thursday, August 16, 2018. The routes will operate for the entire period of the summer schedule between March 31 and Saturday October 26, 2019 but are currently only available for travel through to June 16, 2019.

These three routes will join the existing Saturday service to Jersey that is already on sale, available for travel next summer. Flybe’s 2019 summer routes from Norwich include services to Alicante on Tuesdays and Fridays; Exeter on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays with a scheduled journey time of 75 minutes; weekly services to Jersey on Saturdays and to Malaga on Mondays and Thursdays.

Primera Air announces winter schedule at Birmingham with four new destinations, direct transatlantic flights

Icelandic low cost airline Primera Air has announced its winter schedule at Birmingham Airport with flight services to Tenerife, La Palma, Alicante, Malaga and Reykjavik.

‘Midlands travellers have shown great interest in our Spanish leisure destinations and it gives us confidence that our winter flights will give them improved flight options,’ said Primera Air’s Chief Commercial Officer Anastasija Visnakova. ‘We’re happy that Reykjavik is our first short haul Northern European destination out of UK. For an airline, whose roots stem from Iceland, it is also a somewhat symbolic move’ Ms. Visnakova added.

For winter 2018, Primera will operate flight services from Birmingham: to Alicante starting December 6, on Thursdays and Sundays, with prices starting from £35.00; to Tenerife starting December 8, 2018, on Saturdays, with fares from £49.00; to La Palma starting December 7, 2018 on Fridays with fares from £49.00; and to Reykjavik starting December 9, 2018 on Sundays with fares from £69.00. In addition, Primera will commence services to Malaga starting May 19, 2018, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with fares from £35.00. All fares are one way.

In addition, the Nordic airline is extending its Birmingham-New York and Birmingham-Toronto flight schedule through November. ‘We are beginning our transatlantic flights to North America in just a few weeks and the final preparation stage is truly exciting! In addition, Primera Air is planning to open new bases in Birmingham, London Stansted and Paris Charles de Gaulleto commence flights to New York, Boston, Washington DC and Toronto this April along with new routes from UK to Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Barcelona and Chania, Birmingham Airport said.

Vueling announces summer flights from Cardiff Airport

Low-cost Spanish airline Vueling has announced its summer schedule from Cardiff Airport.

From April to October, 2018, the airline will offer 188,000 seats on flights to four popular Spanish destinations – Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona and Palma Majorca. This represents an increase of 235 percent more capacity since Vueling started flying from Cardiff in summer 2012.

With five weekly services to Malaga and Alicante, customers can now plan summer holidays in mainland resorts including Marbella, Torremolinos, Benidorm and Torrevieja, with the two destinations serving as gateways to the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca regions. Fares for the Malaga flights start from £28.99, while Alicante starts from £44.99, both one way.

For holidaymakers looking for short break options, the airline is offering three flights a week to Barcelona, which offers access to Sites, Tarragona and beautiful resorts on the Costa Brava. The fares for the Barcelona flights start from £34.99, one way.

With four flights per week to Palma Majorca, holidaymakers have several choices for a short break in the Balearics. The fares for Palma Majorca start from £32.99, one way. More destinations in southern Spain, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands and Africa are also accessible via Vueling’s connecting flights from its Barcelona hub.

Flybe announces winter schedule from Doncaster Sheffield

European regional airline Flybe has started operating its 2017-18 winter schedule from Doncaster Sheffield, featuring six routes with a choice of up to 21 departures a week.

As part of its 2017-18 winter offering, Flybe will operate five flights to Paris each week, thrice a week to Dublin, twice a week to Alicante, Berlin Tegel and Jersey and daily service to Amsterdam. Seats are available for booking now at www.flybe.com for travel effective until March 24, 2018. The airline has recently renewed its Cafe Flybe menu, with brand new food and drink options available for passengers to buy onboard.

The UK-based airline will operate flights from Doncaster Sheffield to Paris Charles de Gaulle on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays; to Dublin on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays; to Alicante on Tuesdays and Saturdays; to Berlin Tegel on Mondays and Fridays; to Jersey on Wednesdays and Saturdays; and a daily service to Amsterdam.

The airport scored 87 percent overall beating all airports in the North and Midlands by as much as 20 percent. DSA scores highly in areas such as queues at security, passport control, baggage drop, seating and toilets, the airport said.

British Airways announces flights from London City to Alicante

British Airways has announced new flights from London City Airport to Alicante, one of the more popular tourist destinations in Spain.

British Airways will operate the new four-times-a-week service from London City to Alicante throughout the summer on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Each way hand baggage only fares from London City-Alicante are available from £55 on www.ba.com/londoncity.

Commenting on the timing, Luke Hayhoe, British Airways’ general manager commercial and customer, London City, said: ‘While everyone is still getting over our exit from the football finals this is a fantastic opportunity to escape the disappointment – and the British weather – and head off to sunny Spain. We are delighted to be able to provide direct services from London City to one of the most popular tourist regions of Spain for the first time.’

Norwich Airport announces winter programme with new Flybe schedule

Norwich Airport has added new holiday routes for Winter 2016 with new flights to Malaga and Alicante, plus a new ski flight to Chambery in the French Alps, all of which will be operated by Flybe, the UK-based low-fares airline.

Effective for travel from October 31, Flybe’s new winter schedule at Norwich will see the addition of two scheduled flights a week to both Alicante and Malaga, with a new Saturday service to Chambery commencing mid-December. The new routes are in addition to its recently launched Exeter service through the winter months.

The Chambery link will be the first winter ski flight from Norwich since 2010, adding to the list of holiday destinations. Norwich has also re-launched scheduled sunshine flights to Spain at Easter, following a nine-year absence.

Richard Pace, General Manager at Norwich Airport, said: ‘The partnership between RCA and Flybe means the new sunshine routes will operate year-round and we are delighted to be adding the popular ski resort of Chambery to our winter schedule.

British Airways announces new route to Alicante from London City

British Airways has announced plans to launch a new leisure service to Alicante from London City Airport this summer.

The new flights to the popular holiday destination on Spain’s Costa Blanca will operate four times a week for 10 weeks from the end of June.

The new Alicante route will be the seventh Spanish route for British Airways at London City, where already operates flights to Madrid, Malaga, Palma, Ibiza and Menorca. In addition it also operates services to Granada, which is the only direct air-link from the UK to the Andalucian airport.

Luke Hayhoe, British Airways’ general manager commercial and customer, London City, said: ‘The Spanish Costas are still one of the most sought after holiday destinations for British holiday makers and our new service means they can travel from the heart of London to Alicante in just two and a half hours.’

With the launch of the new service, British Airways will serve 33 destinations direct from the Docklands, where the airline is also launching new services to Berlin and Hamburg this summer.

During July and August, British Airways will offer over 170,000 leisure seats to Europe from London City, 40,000 more than last summer, and will operate extra 433 flights. The busiest days are expected to see more than 20 leisure flights a day.

British Airways will add a new 98-seat Embraer 190 jet at London City in June, which will be the 20th Embraer aircraft to join its fleet there. All British Airways flights include a choice of two cabins, Club Europe and Eurotraveller, complimentary refreshments and drinks on board and no debit card charges, the airline said.

Norwich Airport announces new flights to Alicante, Malaga and Geneva

Norwich International Airport has announced new flights to Alicante, Malaga and Geneva after airport operated Regional & City Airports (RCA) completed an agreement to guarantee winter and summer flights.

RCA, the UK regional airport operator, has strengthened its strategic association with Flybe to introduce year-round scheduled holiday flights at Norwich Airport with seats available for booking from early November after the release of Flybe’s 2016 summer schedule.

The partnership will see the return of scheduled sunshine flights to Norwich for the first time in almost a decade. Year round services from Norwich Airport to Alicante and Malaga will start in March 2016, while the new flight service to Geneva is expected later in 2016.

Sir Peter Rigby, chairman and founder of RCA owners Rigby Group, said: ‘Since taking ownership of Norwich Airport a year ago we have been firm on our commitment to invest in the future of the site. Today, with a milestone agreement guaranteeing the continued operation of scheduled winter and summer holiday routes from the airport, we have underlined that determination with some very concrete results.

‘I am confident that this announcement, which provides tangible proof of the exciting future facing Norwich, will be just first of many positive developments.’

Andrew Bell, who heads up RCA (Regional and City Airports), the airport management division of Rigby Group PLC and owners of Norwich, said: ‘This is a tremendously exciting time. For nine years the issue of reviving scheduled sunshine flights from Norwich has been the number one priority issue raised by our customers, and to see them return from 2016 will be hugely welcomed across the region.’

With the agreement, one of Flybe’s Embraer 195 aircraft will return to the skies and will be used more frequently by the airport. The initial destinations will be available for booking next month, and RCA will investigate the possibility of adding extra routes in case of continued demand, the airport said.

 

Barrhead Travel Announces Summer Charter Flights from Glasgow

Barrhead Travel, a UK based holiday company, will be operating charter flights from Glasgow Airport, in Scotland, to a number of popular holiday destinations next summer.

The company intends to charter flights to Palma, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona and Venice, offering a total of around 20,000 seats, between the May and October period in 2013.

The company has reported that seats are currently available on sale with a range of choices, including flight only reservations, as part of a traditional holiday package, or as a connection to cruise departure points in the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas.

Barrhead Travel is offering its charter flights with British Airways aircraft, with amenities that include more legroom for passengers and more luggage allowance.

Sharon Munro, the chief executive officer of Barrhead Travel, said, ‘We strive to give our customers greater choice and value and chartering more flights during the summer months to some of our most popular destinations and cruise ships enables us to give them the best prices possible.

2013 will see our most ambitious flight programme to date, including new routes from Aberdeen to Barcelona, Glasgow to Alicante and three flights per week due to public demand from Glasgow to Palma.
